Sunburns are caused by over exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light. UV radiation is a wavelength of sunlight in a range too short for the human eye to see. Ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) are the two types of solar radiation most responsible for sunburn.

Your body normally makes melanin to try to protect the deeper layers of your skin from damage.

When your skin gets damaged by the sun's rays, it makes more melanin to try to protect itself from being damaged. This is what causes the skin to change in color.

As most of us know, it is best to prevent sunburn by wearing sunscreen.  There are many sunscreens on the market and we recommend using a sunscreen with non-nano zinc oxide. Our face creams are made with this very type of zinc oxide which provides sun protection.

Don't fear the sun.  We all need a little sunshine in our lives.  Soak it up responsibly.

Enjoy your summer!
