Sometime ago I met a lovely woman whose face was so super sensitive to Olive OIl that even the finest organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil gave her a terrible reaction, whether she ingested it or applied it on her skin.
She had been trying for years to find something that gave her the same results that she saw in other ladies, but everything she tried either caused a rash or a breakout. Helping her was a challenge I was excited to accept.
An allergy to olive oil is considered uncommon, according to Allergies List. According to the Mayo Clinic, most food allergies are related to tree nuts, peanuts, milk, eggs, wheat, soy, fish and shellfish. An olive oil allergy symptoms are a hypersensitivity to the proteins found in olive oil. When someone with an olive oil allergy consumes or comes into direct skin contact with the substance, the immune system tries to attack it. This causes the production of antibodies and histamine that leads to common food allergy symptoms.
Whether ingested or used topically, intolerance can result in acne, eczema, hives and rash. These are just a few of the symptoms that appear on the skin.
If I could only count how many people told me it wasn't good business for me to make a bar to help one person. It's in these moments that I fall in love with the uniqueness that we each possess and embrace the opportunity to help others without thinking of such consequences.
